About Us
Exploring the Go Your Own Way (GYOW) Factor
We have a passion for travel as exploration in its widest sense: following the trail of Che Guevara in Bolivia, re-tracing the footsteps of Lenin in Zurich, Handel in London or Pink Floyd in Cambridge, tracing the Roman history of Leicester, looking for the source of the River Lune in Lancashire, finding a remote Hungarian bridge that once meant life over death for tens of thousands of refugees. It is also about genuine discovery, research and the ‘GYOW factor’ when you find something you have been looking for forever and a day.
Exploration has become synonymous with distance; that’s not how we look at it – exploring simply means discovery: there may be as many amazing things to discover on your doorstep as on the other side of the world. For us, exploring can mean canoeing up remote rivers, trekking through exotic forests or adventures far flung as well, as discovering a hidden treasure in your local village.
The wonder of wandering
Though we hate labels – the Tourism Industry (very much in capitals) likes to call what we love ‘Niche Travel’. That is an indication that it doesn’t really know how to package and sell our kind of travel. We are not in the mass market, guided tours, and packaged holiday world. Our passion is a personal one. It is about individuals – or bunches of friends – going off and doing some exciting exploring on their own - without it being wrapped up in a pretty box. Our kind of travel is totally personal, and can’t be sold in any pre-packaged way that someone else has put together for you. GYOW is about individual, self-researched and self-organised travel for a purpose. It is about the wonder of wandering.
Travel for a purpose
So, if your thing is travelling for a purpose – to discover something personal to you, something which fires your interests and passions, then you are in good company: ours.
We want you to share your passion for exploration – ultimately, we want you to Go Your Own Way.
